Oh what are pothos???Maybe you could add some pothos to reduce nitrate in the tank.
Heater: 2 100w ehime jagers or one 150 and one 100.
Filter: Aquacler 110 or 2 AC 70s if you stock really havily.
Those two are the best, IMO, on the market.
Will this be a planted tank?
My suggestion so you can see the striped raphael is the build your caves/hiding spots in a way in which the fish still feels hidden but you can still see them. Some of my catfish like my Hemibagrus Olyroides only come out once a day but I can still see him all the time because I can see inside the cave

Okay ill do that first also didnt know that an eclipse catfish can live in a 55 gal didn't know about the vines eitherI agree
MatteoTheEnder22 before you go ham on figuring out hypothetical fish for this 55 (and congrats for deciding on a 55, it's a very responsible decision), please actually get the thing first and get it running. If you learn some patience and play your cards right, you can acquire one reasonably affordably on Craigslist or the like for well under $200 with a stand. This will give you something far nicer and more practical than a pool outside on what I assume to be your patio.
Start doing your homework. You've asked a lot of questions. Pick a topwater fish, the African butterfly we discussed would be perfect for this, a mid dweller such as a cichlid (I don't care enough about cichlids to help with this), and a catfish. In a 55, you've got plenty of options, possibly up to the size of say an eclipse cat. In a 55, you can do some really cool stuff.
Agreed. Build the cave in such a way that when the fish swims in, one wall of the cave is against the front glass. It does wonders for some of these nocturnal catfish that if left to find their own hiding spot will make it seem like you've got an empty tank were food occasionally disappears.
A very common vine. Theres a sticky in either GAD or Setup and Filtration about it.
i...don't...think???...so?Hey guys I have a question i think i read somewhere that there are pretty much dwarf species of pacu just wanted to know if that existed and to see if it would be a good pick for a 55 gallon i think probably not but just in.case i wanted to know.

I thought he was asking about a species of pacu that could live in a 55.It does, but dwarf is relative. That's still a fish for a 300+ gallon tank at least.
