All male 72” long tank choices

Can I ask how big did your fish got to in your 125 before you switch? I assume you no longer have them since you said you have it at one point?
Were they full adult for juvenile?

I only buy adult fish, most, if not all were fully grown. I've never had the patience to grow out juvies. I no longer have any african cichlids. I wanted to keep something else so they all went to the store, the tank has been empty for a few months.

YES, that is exactly what I am trying to figure out. Thank you Shark. I obvious care very much about these fish and want to give them the proper home that I can provide within reasonable investment and efforts. I know bigger is always better and I will love to get a tank like what DJ shared, but if I can get away with 300, I wouldn't go get a 500, and if I can get away with a 180, I wouldn't go get a 300, etc. even if I can for these fish. Trying to fit their minimum or better than minimum space requirement, hope I am expressing it correctly. Hope that make sense. Based on what you said, it does sounds like 6 foot tank might be a little short for these large fish and even 7 foot seems no long enough. Then the question becomes is 8 foot or 9 foot really long enough to make them truly happy.

I am trying to find the most affordable and realistic options that I can find that would allow me to keep these fishes long term and thriving. Based on everything I am hearing so far, it doesn't sound like there is an definite answer.

I was looking at 6 footer and 8 footer and didn't realize there are 7 footer. Will check and see maybe there is a away to squeeze a 7 footer in.

I realize maybe I am asking a question that simply has no answer but really just hoping to have someone who the actual experience, good or bad to share.

Thanks
I think an 8 foot tank would definitely be long enough but if you can't fit it in, it's moot. Not sure if the 7 foot 265 is still in production. I bought mine used about 12 years ago off ebay and if I remember correctly the tank was built sometime in the 90's by All- Glass Aquarium which i think is now Aqeuon. There is a YouTuber that goes by Adam C who i think is pretty knowledgeable and a good fishkeeper. He keeps mostly predatory haps, has a bunch of tanks and breeds them as well. His main tank is 300 gallons: 8 foot by 30 in and 25 in high. He keeps a few breeding groups together and is definitely not overstocked and his fish look healthy and happy. I'm going to link a couple of his videos to his friends 265 so you can see what you think of it fully stocked. The 265 is 7 ft long by 2 feet deep and 30 inches high. I would much rather it be a foot longer and 5 or 6 inches shorter just for ease of working in it. I guess if you're taller than me you won't have a problem. I'm 5' 7 so its a pain in the ass to get into the back bottom of the tank. Anyway here are two videos of the 265. The first one is way overstocked with I think they said 45 fish. The second one is a year later and from my count by pausing the video and counting is about 16. I like the look of the tank in the 2nd video much better. Hope this helps give you a better idea.

Cool, I am like you, samething, I only buy adult fish.

If you don't mind me asking, how long you had it running? What was the reason you sold them? Is it because you just lost interest or the aggression gets out of hand?

Thank you, this is really helpful. I think the first one was little too crowded for my liking and the second one was a little empty for me. I think I would like something in between the two. They look happy in that 7 foot in the video to me. I will do some research and see if I can still get a 7 footer and if there's a way to squeeze it in. I can go with acrylic tank so it would be lighter and maybe that way, it would be easier to squeeze it in. Who know, if not then I would just go with a 300 6 footer and worst scenario, I will just keep two all male tank then.

Thank you again. I think I got what I am looking for. Sorry everyone for all these questions.

I just lost interest. I had that setup for maybe 7 or 8 years. I would swap a few fish here and there to add something new. Overall I had an all male tank for probably closer to 15 years. It started as a 65 gallon bow front with smaller peacocks and haps.

Aggression was never a huge problem, I had to remove a few fish, but nothing extreme. I even kept a paratilapia polleni with them towards the end with no problems.

Great, thank you! I think that just nailed for me. I am happy to get 7-8 years out of this and if longer great. I was looking into polleni also and almost got an adult but later read it gets very aggressive when it grows up, so decided not to add one. I might still get one and have a tank just for itself in the future.

What about color?
