Hey, I just bred my veilteil neon rosy barbs and have a few eggs. For the first few days, I will be using Liquid fry food from interpret for egg layers.

After that however should I use Walter/white worms after this? Is this a good food until they big enough to eat pellets?

i know everyone says BBS is the best fry food but I have NO idea how to culture them and it seems much harder than water worms where you can buy a starter kit.

Also, if I get the water worms starter kit, in how much time do I have to replace the yeast and oats? Thanks

Brine Shrimp Direct sells these Artemia culture dishes.
You don't need pumps with air stones or heaters
Takes about 24 hours to get feedable shrimp. I used 2 dishes that I'd start 24 hours apart

Shrimp eggs are scattered around the edges.

The newly hatched shrimp are drawn to light in the opening where there is a strainer cup.

When most are fed, I throw the remaining eggs and brine into a container out side and in a couple weeks usually end up with a few hundred adults from late hatching eggs, large enough to feed adult fish.

Thanks for the reply, that looks quick and easy and I am getting it. Another quick question,

Best way to store brine shrimp eggs? Can you store them outside the aquarium or do you have to store them in the fridge/freezer?

Store in a cool dry place they last for years.

Freezer is best. I've been looking into vinegar eels. I've got a bottle of vinegar set up to grow the worms but nothing is happening yet. Some people say if the vinegar has "mother" it will grow the worms without putting them in. Been two weeks nothing yet. I'll probably have to get a starter.
Bbs are not to bad to grow I used two litter pop bottles a desk lamp an air pump and at the time marine salt, can use water softener salt or kosher salt. I glued an air valve in the top of the bottle to syphons off the bbs (top is bottom) and used a flashlight to make them collect in the neck area. I wish I had used a small container to syphons them off into and a bbs net, even though the eggs and shells mostly float some don't. Freezer is best for long term storage a couple days before you hatch them do a gradual warm up a day in the fridge and over night at room temp. You can store them in the fridge for short periods also.

Pretty sure I got mine from brine shrimp direct also I believe those were the storage directions from them. I think I got the mid grade ones 80% hatch rate. I'm going to need to do it again, my shellies keep breeding and I am unprepared for the babies. I thought they'd survive in the shells with the parents but the parents are terrible at their job. The babies will eat crushed flake but they need to be out of the tank with the parents and bbs or vinegar eels will let them grow quicker then flake or crushed pellets.

I always kept my extra brine shrimp eggs in the freezer and they kept pretty well. At room temperatures, I'd expect after a couple of years the yield might not be that great.

I will start keeping them in the refrigerator. Just got my 2 Brine Shrimp dish today and the box has a refrigerate message taped on the Fedx box from Brine Shrimp direct.
