So I have a 55 gallon with most fish originating from India- rosy barbs and giant danios. The other fish is a rainbow shark( south-east Asian) and a ropefish(African-but I had to have one!). In the future, I will add a black lancer catfish as well.

Are there any other peaceful Indian medium-sized fish i.e. 3-6 inches? If not, I will just settle with all-around Asian fish.

Glass fish.

Honestly you should get a couple more ropefish. They are very social. They need to be in groups to do the best.
Yh I wish.... but my parents are scared of him. They think they look like a snake and didn't talk to me for an hour after I got him?. I will try though, they are getting around to his quacky antics.

There are 3 species of cichlids endemic to India, all from the genus Etroplus.
One gets too big for a 55, E suratensus, gets about the size of a dinner plate.
The other two, E maculatus (the orange chromide), and E canarensus would do well in that size tank.
I find the canarensus do best in a shoal of 4 or more.

I think if I had the time, money and parents who would say yes to another tank I could make an awesome Indian Karnataka river biotope. Based on a bit of research , there are these etroplus carensus cichlids, giant danio, melon Barb's, zodiac loach, Malabar daril, and parambassis wolfii. As well as pea puffers and a 40 cm barb, but I doubt they would co-exist.

Based on that, and the fact that after quarantine is over i allowed my parents to buy whatever fish they want for the aquarium ( suitable of course) I think I leave this for now and enjoy my Indianish aquarium. I might get the etroplus cananernsus of they show up, they are quite rare.

I think that would be much better than
