Sticky packing tape? Does it go on the outside of the bag? I am afraid it would stick well enough an come off with moisture / water, plus the adhesive may be toxic to the fish. Air tight tupperware sounds more promising. Cutting corners and costs on layman shipping is a bad idea, especially since you won't provide the DOA, or will you?

If the spines are smooth on the back side, they are black indeed, not brown.

Sorry about dragging it out. Just think it is important stuff.
The packing tape sticks quite well to the outside of the bag, even when moist, and the water inside the bag should never come into contact with the adhesive. I could bag em individually to be safe.

Whatever makes the buyer feel comfortable. I understand your concern haha. I’ve got some highly experienced friends well trained on the matter to help if that’s any consolation.

Ive remembered a way for packing spiky catfish that has worked in the past, covering the bottom side of the bag with a couple layers of packing tape. Essentially creates an armor covered bag. Then that goes in a bag.

The spines are not barbed, they are smooth all the way up.
I don't see how they could have smooth barbs. Every bullhead I've caught (black, brown and yellow) have had serrated spines just like any other catfish. This here is a bullhead spine from a 12in bullhead I caught one year.

I see. I didn’t notice while handling them. Good to know.
Lol all that skin and fin definitely hides allot. Also sucks getting stuck by one, they have a very mild neurotoxin coating the spines that causes nerves to flare in pain and it does a very good job of it too. Got stuck a few time out fishing and it will throb in pain for a few hours before ebbing away. Not as bad as rapheal cats tho with their double edged razor blades fins.

I’ve been got by Gafftops and channels before, those gafftops numb your entire arm and half your body, not a good time haha.

I just had to move some raphaels and got a small stab but it still hurt like hell so I can confirm this.

Yeah never is either lol, well unless your one of those ppl but to each their own. Lol I just happen to like "not" being in pain.

Lol yeah they tend to get ya when ya least expect it too. Just count yourself lucky ya didn't get a barb in the side of your knuckle all the way down to the bone like I did when throwing a bullhead back. Lol that fish got lucky too because if I could have caught him mid air I would've chucked him up on the bank for a few hours so he'd learn his lesson.
