What's in the tank?

Alternatively get 10 more and see if you can spawn them. Kidding obviously but I am curious as to what size tank you’re putting them in as an adult.

Both or just one?

I'm hoping for both. But if it doesn't work out just the best one. Best meaning the most personable one. I've been researching them for a bit. I know most of the time they don't get along with each other and with other fish, but I read a posting on another site that had a couple pairs living together and breeding but they were having issues raising the fry. They got them young in a group and noticed that at about 6 month they started to see pairs hanging out together. They took the pairs and sperated them from the group 2 pairs out of the group and put them in to two separate tanks. They had a couple in the original group causing issues and those were pulled early on. So two sets of two and a group of I think 5. The 5 ended up being a male and 4 females which started laying fertilized eggs at about 18 months. One pair started laying eggs then also, the other pair never did. Interesting they only seemed to know the sex of the group of 5. Never stated how or if they for sure knew the pairs. Obviously 1 pair had viable eggs so that goes without saying. It was from like 2012 ish, and I have been trying to find it again since I read it about a month ago. I think it came up on wet web but can't locate it.

As for mine I am not interested in breeding them persay but I'd like them to cohabitate. Currently they are friendly to each other and don't stray to far from the other. They do seem to be particularly interested in each other's food though. They play tug of war a lot with black worms and blood worms, even though there's more right next to them.

Well that seems like an interesting experiment to try i wish you good luck

I'm super late but I was going to guess Schoutedeni, wouldn't that be a good guess? ;)
They're getting more common recently I thought you might jump on the bandwagon

I just lost my schoutdeni a couple weeks ago. I'm unsure why, seemed to have ingested air..... maybe? Was really sudden and unexpected. She was fine during the day and late at night was floundering at the surface, unable to swim properly and slightly bloated. I read up on how to "burp" them and tried it. I was getting bubbles to come out but I think it was to late already. It was a bad weekend over all.
