He has always eaten good ,one of the reasons I kept this one. Pellets have been slow to get going but he's a trooper he will try anything I offer. If I offer it enough so far he will eventually eat it. I'd love to be able to supplement his diet with pellets of some kind for his whole life. I don't know if it would be possible as his only diet maybe it will be crunchy enough? But I think snails and frozen crab will be on the menu too.

I'm in the same boat as you, I'd like to get some... but the thought of having to trim the fahaka's teeth does NOT sound appealing. I hear people who've given puffers crunch foods and STILL NEEDED to trim the beaks down

That doesn't happen so much with fahaka or mbu usually as they are large enough to eat clams and hard shelled crabs. Saps are bad for it I've heard some of the other smaller ones are also. But "he" is willing to try to eat most stuff I give so I'm thinking I'll be good later on. Large crunchy pellets, snails, frozen crab and clams will be what I'll feed him.

Well the tank the fahaka was in sprung a leak. So had to quick set up another. Ideally he will go in the 180, but I'm going to take my time setting it up and get it right. Right now he's in the cube tank inside measurements put it at right around 75g. It's drilled for a sump and will eventually be plumbed in to one with the 180. I had different plans for this tank but it will have to work for the moment. Right now just a sponge filter and a biocenosis basket and plants are filtering it. Pics soon. Setting this up has shown me my grand plans for my fish room will leave an awkward corner in the room. I knew it would but hadn't worked it out yet.

Not ideal but home for now. I'll watch him for any signs of discomfort from the gravel but unfortunately it was already in the tank. He has never tried to bury himself in the tank he was in. Already eating today too, still very wary though.

He seems fine on it. I never seen him dig in the sand in the other tank. I've seen a larger one bury itself in sand at the lfs. I will probably put sand in the 180 once it's up and running but only because I actually like it more then gravel. I will probably go with black diamond sand in the 180. Hope it doesn't make the puffer to dark though.

It's been a while. I saw a post for a cross river puffer. I didn't realize they could look so much like fahakas. Made me post in the selling thread about the likelihood of it being a cross river in all actuality. Was assured by the selling member it was in fact a cross river because of the red spots in it's lines well.......

Hard to see on camera but it has red spots with in the black stripes. In comparison these are terrible to the real thing. I'm not saying it's a pustulatus and I'm not saying his isn't. I'm just wondering. (And I didn't want to post in his selling thread again since I'm not buying. Also I couldn't figure out how to pm him pics)

I should add the one pustulatus I've seen in real life had nothing but red spots on it's body just like all of the pics I've seen until now. Facial features seem more "soft" in the pustulatus usually too.
