Hi guys this is my first post. I have recently (yesterday) purchased (second hand) a 4 ft tank along with the fish that were in it.
There are 3 little fish (don't know what they are), an angel, a ghost sword fish and a place. I was unaware of how unhealthy the tank conditions were until I got it home. It needed a HUGE CLEAN but i kept 40 % of the water so I could cycle the tank. Anywho my question is about the pleco and why he has colour loss patches on him

Could be from poor water quality or not appropriate foods. Maybe the combination of both those factors. Don’t know how the fish was taken care of prior. Guessing game a bit.

I had to wash the rocks about 10 times before the water ran clear, the smell was awful, I should have tested their water when I got home but i was too excited. They only have dry food and I would try to feed live.
How do I fix it? Can it be fixed? Will he/she heal over time??

Should heal over time with good clean water and food.

I can’t help with the pleco comrade but I’d like to point out that water does not carry very much bacteria so keeping the water does not help cycle the tank any faster.

What kind of Pleco is it? Can you post a picture? The loss of color is likely stress related but could be any number of things.
