Eclipse catfish care?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hello I was wondering what are some basic care requirements for a eclipse catfish? also could they live with delhezi bichirs?
Not much different than other cats. Doesn’t require special water parameters. Will eat all foods offered. As it gets bigger it can be aggressive feeder. Hides during the day and out at night mostly. Will come out for food. Had my old card with my old delhezi and no issues.

Mine was slow growing.

Slow overall. Perhaps up to 6"-8" in the first year. Then far slower. Up to 17" in 10 years IME.

kno4te kno4te ok do you know of any other similarly sized cats that are fairly predatory?
Bolt catfish. Lima shovelnose. Black driftwood cat. Asian USD cat. Bullhead.

Some hemibagrus will be around the same size and fairly predatory but you will need to be sure which you got. Any that grow under 12’ will be more robust than eclipse cats and any that grow over 12” you ma find too aggressive depending on tank mates. You also have options with hemibagrus such as albinos. Furcatus for small and Nemurus for large. However they can be difficult to tell apart when young.
