Have you thought about the amount of platy fry you may end up with? Some will be eaten, but they are constantly pregnant.
If it was my tank, I would do 1 schooling fish, a group of bottom dwellers, and a centerpiece fish. So, maybe 4 gourami's (if they tolerate each other), a school of 6-8 platy or tetras, and 6 or so cory catfish. If you decide to have a pleco, I would only do one of a small species. Even in my 6ft 125, one bristlenose kept the glass spotless.
Most importantly, start small. Get the tank cycled and get used to testing frequently. Then add a group of fish. Test some more and make sure everything's right. Make sure you are able to maintain conditions over a period of time. Once you're good at keeping your water conditions good, then repeat with the next group of fish.
