in the last few months I stopped using root tabs and switched to light dosing my tank with mainly liquid iron. so far it looks like I might not need anything else crazy going on.

Now, because I'm starting to run low (and the funds are also low) I was wondering if I could turn the osmocote plus granules into a powder, and micro dose my tank after a water change.

Instead of only using it as a root tab.

I understand this is not the same as just iron, just wondering if I can just use it through the water column

Think the only thing I’d be concerned about is long lasting effects. Think it’s meant to be used every couple of months. Using it that way can result in algae. It could be ground up and used as fertilizer.

Awesome, I think I'm going to test it and report back.

I do weekly 50% water changes so I should be able to flush it out for the most part if it starts creating too much algae. If I can beat my pleco and snails to it that is lol
