My gar has got really big and was growing really fast. I bought a 1meter x 30cm x 50cm tank for him about 3-4 months ago. He was eating well but suddenly he stopped eating and started to be at the bottom of the tank. Water temperature was normal, the ammonia was low, ph was about 7 and the I put nitrate remover in the tank. After 1 week he still did not eat, I changed his water and tested his water again but it was all good. I usually feed him tilapia or shrimp but he refused to eat them. I am trying out feeders right now but he still looks like he does not want to eat. He has one redtail catfish as his tankmate.

How big is the gar? A week isn’t too bad. Make sure the water gets under control and wait it out. It should eventually eat.

The gar is about 50 cm long
I’d try and be patient. Get the water under control and it should eventually eat. At that 50cm size a week shouldn’t bother it. When feeding try mixing with some garlic to help entice an appetite.
