I have this sweet tree stump i want to put in my 300gal tank. Im thinking of hanging it from the ceiling. My daughter wants to add plants to it.
Honestly with a tank that big you could easily add that whole stump into the tank with no worries about weight.

As for plants I would recommend gluing them to the base of the stump to give it a more organic look, kind of like it was a tree at one point but died due to flooding. I would recommend using jungle val for the tank just for it's grassy look. Could also go with some dwarf hair grass for the rest of the tank to tie in with the jungle val. They are both great carpeting plants that will slowly take over the whole bottom of the fish tank over time. That and with the difference is size between the 2 plants it would work very nicely for establishing a sense of depth to the tank. Could also add some anubias to the top of the stump to give it a sense of regrowth. Make it kind of look like the tree is trying to come back to life.

Just some ideas I had after seeing the stump. Either way no matter what ya do with it just having the stump in the tank will make it look so much better.

I'd want that bottom bit pointed towards the front as much as possible. It looks cool, but the rest of it looks good too. Maybe off to one side going from the rear corner. Looks like it could curve out of the water doing that too. Which would look neat.
