hello, i was just curious if anyone had any suggestions for tankmates for my large male cuban, he lives alone in a 120 gallon tank, 5ft x 18inches x 30inches, he's not terribly aggressive, he's lived with smaller cubans and Texas cichlids in the past, the Texas needed to be removed because she was tearing up his fins lol even though she was half his size

I wouldnt expect a large male Cuban to accept any tankmates in a 5' aquarium. Yours sounds like it may be mellow but I personally wouldnt risk it. Maybe some dithers? or a nice pleco?
Being the only cichlid in their natural habitat does not bode well for the use of other cichlids as tank mates
Non cichlids of some kind might work, as long as they aren't swallowable.
I kept a pair in a 6 ft 125 gal tank, but they would accept no tank mates, and when in a spawning mode even a pleco would be considered only acceptable if it was dead.
Most predatory cichlids with a Nandopsis/Parachromis shape are loners, so not really suited for community cichlid situations unless the tank is over 300 gallons.

That tank is his territory now, another cichlid of any sort will be seen as an intruder and they will fight for dominance. I agree a pleco or non-cichlid tankmates would be a better bet.
