Doesn't look like I could edit the thread. I tested the water and it turns out the pH was high for Bichir, as I understand they like a maximum of 7.0
I have added some pH down so hopefully he can develop some cool colors soon...

Ph can fluctuate where these fish are from and don’t have a specific ph. Would try and keep a stable ph.
They are not particularly bothered, usually 6.0-8.0 is fine.
Roger. He must look kind of uninteresting in regards to pattern because of the area he is from?
still immersing myself in all the knowledge available here but he is different than other lapradei and very different from even one that I had before. Realistically it's probably not stress or anything, it may just be how he looks?
It can be any mixture of things, lapradei seems to be incredibly variable as well. Locality may be it.
