New shortbody flowerhorn

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Great looking fish ya got there. He definitely has some potential but I can definitely say he is not a short body. He's just a regular (long) body. But either way still great looking. I would however change the gravel substrate for more of a fine sand instead. It helps lower the risk of him getting constipation if he does happen to eat any of it while moving the substrate around. Mind if I ask what your feeding him? Also getting a small floating mirror might help with his over all color and aditude.

Sounds like a good healthy mix to me atleast. Least to say tho, he sure turned into a beast. Btw what's the other fish into tank with him? Just curious. Ik with my 2 girls it's hard to get them to accept new tank mates.

Wonder what the fry will look like once ya get some. They should be able and willing to breed with eachother since they are so similar in body design.

Im hoping so but they've tried twice already with no success, I suspect the male is infertile, hes been with other female fish before and also many failed spawn attempts

Yeah it's possible. I know when I hade my original breeding pair they had to try 4x before they got it right. I was almost to the point of trying to get another FH to test whether Jr (my original male) was fertile or not. 1st attempt the female ate the eggs and the 2nd and 3rd attempts the male just never did his job. 4th attempt they finally got it all done right and I now have their 2 daughters 2 years afterwards.
