That what I'm trying to do just waiting for a 75g or bigger tank to pop up in my price range and nearby (about an hour or so) since my vehicle is currently waiting on parts. What would you say Is a good way to clean tanks with water stains an such you see a lot on used tanks My friends say vinegar is good.

You could wait for petco to do the dollar a gallon tank sale, I know the bigger tanks aren’t 1$ per gallon but they significantly discount them.

The problem with the internet is that tank size is basically opinion, and anyone that "wants" a large fish will try to justify cramming it in a a "too small" tank because that just "hafta" have it, not considering territoriality, water quality or other determining important factors.

When in the states I had at least 20 tanks going.
I got "most" 100+ gallon plus tanks cheap (@ $100) or for free, because so many people get fish, and because they don't accept the responsibility of their actual needs end up killing them, or with a smelly dirty tank, and just want to get it out of their house. I've picked up 55 gallon tanks on the curb.

Being a cichlid guy, I feel a 50, or 55 gal tank is only large enough for dwarf cichlids, if cichlids are wanted.
If you have hard water, then something like Amatitlania nanoluteus from Central America, or smallish rift lake Africans.
If your tap water is soft, and mineral poor, smaller Amazonian types, like Rams or Apistogramma, or western African dawrfs like Kribensus.

Based on what can fit, maybe not super happily, you can probably do some of the smaller cichlids, Jack Dempsey or smaller.
Maybe a solo red belly piranha, 3 could also work.

While I was interested in having a piranha tank they are illegal in the state of texas so I can't have them.

That's why I went on this forum to ask people who actually care cause while I want a large fish I don't want to make their lives miserable just so I can have them.
I even considered getting 1 or 2 fancy goldfish for a 55g but people say that's to small or that I would need more than that sine goldfish are a social fish.

The biggest tank I could possible fit in my room(where I plan on putting the tank) Is a 90 gallon(needs to be 50in or shorter in length) and again I would need to find 1 in my price range.

Have you considered leporinus? They have a relatively low activity level, so only need about 60 gallons and are compatible with a school of dithers. Super beautiful and one of the nastiest fish out there too in my experience.

2 fancy goldfish like ryukins or orandas would be fine in a 55g. I know that I kept about 4-5 fancy ones in a 60g over 20 years ago without any aggression issues and with play sand substrate. I don't know if they are social fish since I never really observed them doing anything social with each other. I ve known keepers who kept the usual comet alone for 15 years or so, so I don't think they need other goldfish to live that long. I only quit keeping them because I found out I was allergic to their slime coat for some reason (and not other fish).

Leporinus are underrated. They used to be more common, but I almost never see them now. They look best with other fish, but one or two of them with a school of tetras would be pretty nice. I’ve heard they are compatible with exodons (mini piranhas). Not much of a solo fish at that point, but it would look pretty nice in the end.
