What made you feel that way?I no longer blame the lfs for a fish that's purchased but anyway returned a Redtail Shark due to a territorial issue.

Sorry to hear that. When keeping my BP's I am really careful about who I put with them so situations like that won't play out. In my opinion BP's are helpless against a fish with a working mouth (My BP's have an open mouth)and with how aggressive they are, but still not being able to do any damage so i'm always on eggshells with who their tankmates are. I generally only keep them with themselves, peaceful severums, and medium-sized fast tetras. The only fish that I have ever taken back/given away (other then selling babies) were when I was tearing down a tank and selling or giving away everything in it, or when there’s been a bully. I started off in bigger cichlids with a group of 4 parrots and 1 young “unidentified” Cichlid. Who a month after buying it turned out to be a very aggressive male Texas who over night killed off 2 of my parrots leaving the other 2 barely alive, and the opposite This year when I got my flowerhorn who turned out to be very aggressive so I ended up giving away all the other cichlids in the 55 to keep him.

It depends on the bp, individuals differ in mouth function, and mine helped to take out a green terror (granted it was a one eyed balloon terror) and currently is at odds with the convict. The Leporinus and Jack Dempsey control most injuries, but the parrot definitely thinks it’s a full red devil. They seem to know who they can beat though.Sorry to hear that. My real dream (freshwater) tank would be a mix of silver dollars, pacu, pygos, exos, and serras. I would probably need about 20000 gallons just to keep them from killing each other. If I ever win the lottery, definitely getting a school of pacu
Pacu is delicious! I had some on the Rio Negro that was fantastic. Tried to eat a 24" pacu from a fish tank sump at my friend's former LFS but it tasted like muddy catfish and we didn't get very far, lol.Reminds me of my pacu. I picked up 3 back when petsmart sold them, assuming they were just like silver dollars. Then my grandfather saw a river monsters episode about them. Didn’t take long until they *ahem* removed all the other fish from the tank short of the 3 leporinus and a silver dollar.
I kept them anyway until I was moving and they were just too big (only about 10 inches at the time).
Always wanted to keep one for life though.
Yea I think the reason that the other 2 were able to survive is because their mouths weren’t constantly open like the other 2 parrots that could barely close their mouths, It was a sad day but a good learning experience.Sorry to hear that. Yes, so it's really my fault for relying on them and not just looking the information myself. My laziness, lol....It's up to us to do research and not to rely on the lfs because some associates are put in the fish department with no or little knowledge of the species of fish They sell.

I was in the US visiting relatives once, we went around to fish shops in and went to one in Santa Monica. Had some really neat looking little fish, 2-3" long, something like $50. The name looked a bit familiar and I thought $50 sounded like a great price for something fairly rare. Thought I'd love a couple of those if I could get them, but of course can't take them home. So I wrote down the name to look up later. My wife and I were strolling around our LFS last year and she was taken with some very cute little catfish in one of their display tanks. The sales guy informed me they stay quite small and were really placid. So I bought three.
I got home and researched them and found out that, as adults, they would be about 2 feet long and killers!
They went back, and quick.
They were colombian cat sharks.
