I have just received my order of Repashy "Morning Wood" and want to mold cubes rather than loaves or sheets. I have some egg crate and am thinking about trimming some down to fit a regular jelly roll pan. I'm wondering if the plastic will with stand the heat of the Repashy mix?

I found some silicone molds on Amazon I like but am trying to go the cheap route first ?

The mix isn't that hot the way I make it. I typically boil water (30ml) in a 900 watt microwave for 20 seconds, then I add the Repashy (2 teaspoons). (I use old Nyquil dosing cups for the distilled water). By the time it's thoroughly mixed, it has cooled enough not to melt the plastic, yet still remain liquid enough to pour into egg crate plastic.

Look at you guys getting all fancy.
I just mix mine in an old Tupperware bowl and cut into cubes with the tip of a knife after it sets up.

Trying to lean out the steps from dry powder to fish tank ?

I use a mini muffin tin I got at Goodwill and then just cut the Repashy muffins to the size I need. Refrigerate the leftovers for a couple days but freeze the remainder in a Zip loc bag.

1 cup finished mixture of Repashy fills 12 mini muffin slots, or make less finished product if you don't want to store it.

I don’t think you can get any leaner than what I do.
Heat the water in the microwave.
Have my bowl ready with powder all ready in it.
Add water, stir well, let cool and cut into whatever size cubes you like.
I store it in the same bowl I make it in.
Just pop the lid on and store In the fridge.

Another thing I do from time to time is get a few stones and dip them in the mix while it’s hot to coat them.
Place them on paper plates to cool once there’re set up I just drop them In the tanks.
I only do that when I’m going to feed that day.

My wife doesn’t like for me to store rock In the fridge.

What you could do instead, is pour the mix, and then cut it with the egg crate after it's set. I would think that repashy would stick a bit too well to egg crate upon setting, so you'd have some form of wastage. But if you were to just cut the gel with the egg crate afterwards, that would probably work better.

However I don't think that egg crate melts at that low of a temperature, or if it does, it takes a longer time to do so than the time it takes for the hot gel mixture to set and cool.

I'm buying a set of these when I finally get my system started:
