Knowing is half the battle right? All I need is an ID of what I'm dealing with. My 1.5" umbee cichlid has this weird white stuff growing on its body. The little guy had just a small patch when I unboxed him a few weeks ago and as he grows, it grows too. He eats and behaves like a healthy fish. So first I thought it was a fungus, close up it doesn't look like a fungus but I still treated him with API fungus cure and Pimafix (seperately) for 2 weeks...nothing. It's not ich, doesn't look much like 20201219_220340.jpgvelvet...I'm lost. Any ideas of what it could be is appreciated.

Not entirely sure but I’d have to guess a type of fluke in cyst form. There are some that show like this. Would scrape/remove from the fins and body carefully. Treat with prazipro and/or salt dips. Need repeat dosing or dips. Quarantine for sure.

It almost appears as if those are spores growing on the fish. On another forum someone had something similar looking on tetras and it was suggested it might be dermocystidium. I've no idea if their suggestion applies to your fish or not but just throwing it out there.

Any update on if you figured out what the issue is or how the fish is doing?
