Hello; Very good point. In fact in the last few weeks I have been even more amazed with the general level of spin. It some areas spin has reached new heights in some areas. I guess they have been released from the pesky need to have the spin make some sort of sense.

Hello; Well said both of you. Some days I get fed up with people trying to make me feel guilty for being alive. I do what i can to have a small environmental footprint but I want to be warm in winter and want to be able to drive around. Sometimes it is hard to swallow a lecture from some who fly around in a private jet.
As the evidence stacks up that the human race plays only a miniscule part in climate change, does it not make you think that your efforts through your life to keep your "footprint" to a minimum, especially your conscious decision to refrain from having children, has been a futile one?
Hello; Futile in the sense of actually making a dent in the various environmental issues and climate change, then yes. Yes my efforts to make an impact on these things is comparatively very very small to the scope of the problems. For what it is worth I view "climate change" among the lesser evils facing the people of the world.
Did I already understand I was not going to make a difference to the overall situation back in the mid 1970's? Yes I had that pretty much figured out. There was a very slim hope in my mind. A winning the lottery sort of slim hope. I did the main bit about not having children early on and have done some of the rest as time went by. Again knowing little difference was likely to be the outcome.
There are at least two other ways to consider this question for me. Both are very personal. First is I do not have to have nightmares nor anxiety from concerns for children I do not have. I did not bring children into what looked to be a big mess coming and in the fulness of time has arrived. I do not have that sort of personal worry. A close family member for decades dismissed my stance until he started having grandchildren. Even tho he does not let on often I know he has been thinking about these things of late.
A second reason is I have to live with myself. Sort of the same reason I do not trade in endangered species nor wear their skins and such. I keep only tank raised fish for example. I have leather from food animals only. If I am going to eat them, which I do, then I will use the other parts when it suits me. I do not want this to come off the way it will sound, but will try to explain. I am not very much in the mode of traditional faiths, but do have a code.
One part of the code I adopt is to take heed of the things I become aware about. I do not figure to be judged in an afterlife sort of way, but try to act as if that will happen. Once I became aware of the environmental issues acting in light of that awareness was the thing to do. Same applies in other areas of living. I may and have stumbled blindly along at times before becoming aware of a concept or idea. But once the notion take a hold in my awareness, seems better to do something about it.
So in the sense of did I win, then no I have failed. However in the sense of not only trying, but also doing some things worth doing the effort has been made. Not sure how a failed effort is counted. I can live with my failure. If in some way the history of my era is chronicled, I hope in some ways I can avoid having some of the blame mitigated by those failed efforts. I will not be blameless, not saying such.
Lol, I had to look that one up. Reading through the plot for that film I think I can safely say it must be the most completely maddest film ever made. It just looks total bonkers. The plot didn't seem to give too much away regarding your "next president", Mr Camacho! I can only assume that he is as mad as a box of frogs....a bit like your current departing leader! So yeah, he should fit right in, lol.
