I have a female EBA and a female Firemouth in a 40 gallon breeder as of now. Each about 2” and they shockingly even swim together without any fighting. Could I add more of either into the tank or maybe another type of fish all together? Here for suggestions.

Note: These fish will be moved to a 75 g tank when they size up.

Welcome aboard
I suggest not to add anymore Cichlids and test your parameters to see if your filter is handling the bio load now.

I have a Fluval 307 on this tank that’s holding up pretty well. Water has been stable with no issues. At least a 25% change every week. Thanks for the advice!

i think larger tetras could go in with it
or other kinds of cichlids because they can become aggressive when breeding

Fish that inhabit the same waters in Mexico as the Firemouth, would be live bearers such a s mollies, and tetras such as Astyanax.
Some of the same tetra and live bearer species (or their cousins) also inhabit waters that Acaras live in northern S America.
But.. I would wait until you get the 75 gal going, before adding more fish.
I use Roeboides tetras with my Andinoacara.

Makes perfect sense. I’ll look into those. Thanks for the advice!
