I would say 240 minimum which is usually 24 inches wide, but ideal is atleast 30-36 inches wide putting you in 300-400 territory.

Never kept channa but isn't that a tad bit much for a fish that probably won't grow over 18 inches?
Not really. You want 1.5x the length of the fish for it to turn around so 18 inches puts you around the standard 24 inch width of tanks. Does everyone follow that on here? Absolutely not. I think 2x length of the fish is more appropriate personally. But it all doesn’t have to be done immediately it’s just my opinion on the matter

And obviously this depends on the type of fish, bichirs are pretty lazy so I don’t think that rule applies. I don’t have snakeheads but I’m pretty sure they are a very active fish. Happy fish equals healthy fish.
