Slowly getting some of my old (small) tanks running again, after my divorce 5 yrs ago .... I had to shut everything down. Some tanks she got (to sell), but I was a smart man and packed any and all equip/decor away for a another day .... Which is now finally becoming reality.
So of course, I'd return here. Say hello to those who've helped me in the past (aka handed me my *** and pointed me in the right direction LOL) and a hello to everyone else.
#1 on my list .... is to make another Banjo Catfish tank. I still have my old 30 gallon luckily. But finding them to purchase could be a different story, currently. But the tank is up and running (barebottom at the time) fully cycled and currently housing some guppies.
My oldest son is intrigued to get back into the aqua plant game, we were always low tech .... so at the moment probably following the same route. He's already commented on his desire to grow a Madagascar Lace Leaf again (The two he grew previously were gorgeous). But I've asked him to wait until I can get a more suitable tank this time. Ideally a 70g.
And now my youngest son is feeling left out .... so I've another possibly fish keeper in the making.
It's been something like 5 yrs since I had to unfortunately exit the hobby overnight. The hardest part was that there was nothing I could do for my fish.
But I managed to keep my dog (she was gonna send it to the pound), my kids in good spirits and my sanity intact.
But I may have to change my user name now .... Hmmmm .... maybe Super Single Dad, or something.
Glad to see the site survived the lawsuit, to this day I still haven't been able to try an energy drink. I like my coffee.
So happy new year to all .... and thanks for still being here.

Wow, what a journey. As a kid who’s parents broke up then mom divorced with someone else it can be tough for the kids, sounds like your kid’s handled it well which is awesome for you and sounds like you’re doing a great job. Banjo catfish sound cool, always wanted to get some. Do you think maybe you’ll add like a small tetra with them? Maybe cardinals, ember or fire? Or do you think you’ll keep the guppies? Nice to have you back.

Welcome back to the fishy family!
Thanks. It's something I've missed.

Thanks. I was once that kid myself, so I knew where my attention was needed to be focused. I'm still the primary parent (they spend more time with me than their mom).
The guppies are future feeders for something at some point LOL .... basically something to help establish the tanks while I figure out what I"m doing. 4 tanks cycling, including my 30g. (2 x 29g and a 37g). As for the Banjo's, when I finally find some ..... like any other catfish, they'll eat what they can fit in their mouths. They used to have the tank to themselves when I had it running. It was semi blackwater, so one day I decided to add some Neon/Cardinal Tetras. So there'd be something visible during the day. That's when I discovered they're a natural snack for mature Banjo Catfish. Which helped me realized my Banjo's were hitting maturity age. But they never got a full chance to breed, unfortunately. Hence my desire to replicate things .... I even have a bunch of Almond leaves stashed away still.

Welcome back.
