Well...which rays were you thinking of?
 
I've looked at those myself. If it's 3' wide and 2' tall I'd say it's good, but if only 2' wide probably not wide enough.
Like dr exum dr exum said the 8' circle one would be better in any case but especially if the other is only 2'wide.
 
It would work either below or above the tank. If above the tank you'd need a pump in the tank. If below you'd need to drill the tank for bulkheads and use a pump inside that filter to return the water.

Are you familiar with fish tank filtration? If so what have you used in the past? Seems we may be able to help you more if we know your background.

I have only had one sump and it was below the 180
This would basically work the same way. The overflow that comes with that may or may not fit/work properly. If it was me I'd drill the tank for a bulk head instead of using that hob kind (I don't trust those anyway). It'd be really easy to do. Or if you have room above the tank do it as an overhead, put the pump in the tank and then just drill the sump and use a pipe to feed back to tank below.
