Backfromthedead i agree. It’s really personal preference, and high quality tank from a high quality manufacturer will probably last long enough for 99% of us. Surprisingly, my acrylic tank was cheaper than a counterpart glass tank.
The acrylic tank is $700. 00 cheaper with no lids or tank pad
Who is the manufacturer for the acrylic tank and what is the thickness of the acrylic being used? A lot of places try to get away with 1/2in acrylic, but I prefer 3/4in which impacts the cost. Lids should not be that expensive. My tank, the lids were a different clear material and were very thin. A different material was used because think acrylic is going to bow over time.
Fish Tanks Direct. 3/4" on all sides top and bottom.
That’s where I got my tank. They did a great job. I think they included the lids in theprice of the tank.
What did you end up getting? I'm on the market for a tank that size also and wasnt sure myself.I'm sure this has been posted a million times, so I'm going to add some specifics to mine.
96Lx36Wx30H approx 425 gallons
Glass 627lbs dry weight
Acrylic 482lbs dry weight
Glass cost includes a cellular pad and lids. They will be an additional cost for the acrylic tank
Glass is approximately $700 more as each are described.
Yes the lids are definitely included with all tanks. They used 3/4" acrylic all the around on both of my 170 gallon Tsunami tanks.I don't believe I saw lids included. I will check.
