I wouldn't ask for another price reduction unless it doesn't run or I wanted it for parts.
There are a ton of variables to determine this.
1) can your stand fully support whatever tank you use for a sump?
If not can it be altered to work?
2) is you tank drilled already? Can your tank even be drilled. Are you comfortable drilling it? Do you have the bulkhead you put in the hole you just drilled.
3) do you have the sump tank already
4) do you have a mess of pvc pipe laying around, elbows, valves etc. The primer and glue for pvc pipes?
5) do you already have a return pump?
6) mechanical filtration on hand already be it filter socks or just a mess of pot scrubbers.
7) a good amount of what ever you want to use for bio filtration be it rings, lava rock etc
All these elements will add cost to the initial sump build.
I think if you buy the FX and even have to replace the motor, still would come in cheaper than building a sump system from scratch. But that is just my opinion.
