Does anyone have experience with this species? I'm extremely curious about them and what they're like in captivity. I've heard some conflicting information about their temperament and husbandry requirements.

Had one years ago,grew it from a few inches to nearly two feet in length.It wasnt overly aggressive but it had its moments where it would chase other around.I raised it on different tupes of pellets.
The Emporer Cichlid is my favorite out of all the African Cichlid species but unfortunately
never would be able to afford or have the room for the large aquarium it would need. A breeder and lfs owner had one on display in a wide customized aquarium it was about 1ft long and had a sign on the aquarium that said don't stick hand in the aquarium lol.
