This video may upset you: Overstocked!

What problems do you see? That is a really big tank with small fish, inch per gallon rule means that should be fine, even full grown. I currently have 3 pacu in a 20 long and they are very happy. I have a goonch for cleanup and a common pleco for algae. My ammonia is a little high so I moved them into a 10 gallon tank I just filled up. I’m looking for another fish, maybe an arowana or a stingray. Thoughts?

This is a direct lift from the sticky thread.
It's what I have used to gage my stock as it made sense to me.

The "rule" does NOT refer to the length of the fish!
The "rule" applies to the cubic inches of fish in the tank.

This means that a 5" gourami should be measured in this manner,
length overall (5"),
thickness, (1/2"),
height, (2 1/2"),
so for this fish you multiply the following, 5x 1/2x 2 1/2, this gives you a total of 6 1/4 gallons of water.

Hey JAYBIRD1011 JAYBIRD1011 ,
How much water for say a very large Amph like a Chancho. They are so bulky and thick. Just wondering what your measurements would be for a fish like that. How many gallons do you think? Just for S###s and giggles.

For my Amphilophus Saggitae Casper the math works for what he's in atm

12in long
2in wide
5in tall
=120
He's in a 6ft 125gal, just can't get any bigger
