75 gallon stocking

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes they can, in fact, the minimum tank size is 55 gallons
I would say 75 is a good minimum. They probably will stay 8-10 inches in aquariums and 18 inch tank gives enough room to turn. Gouramis aren’t the fastest or most powerful swimmers either.
Wow didnt know this, I read they get like 16 inches and I thought there was no way. I'm assuming no tank mates? I hear they're semi aggressive and big anyway for the 75.

I haven’t heard of them over 12, but I’m sure 16 is possible for the largest. Tankmates are probably best limited to dithers. Comparable to a similarly sized cichlid.

I was thinking if maybe I should put my blackbelt in there and separate him from my other fish but I couldn't imagine that would be big enough he is growing very fast

I’d say 125 minimum for that.
I wouldn’t put a cichlid that gets over 8-10 inches in a 75 except for extra lazy ones.
