I have a 75 gallon tank with 7 fry of midas cichlid. This is my first time to raise 7 fry in one tank. My concerns are will they kill each other? Until one survive or they will pair up? The tank have lots of hiding places despite of that they still chasing each other. How can i reduce the aggression or should i keep them in a solo tank? The fries are 1 month old 1inch in size. They were born in march 29, 2021.

The fry will always compete for food and territory and it will get hard for the low dominant fry especially as they grow.

I’m raising up 6 Red Devils in a 90. Started them from about 2.5”. Down to 4 and there is a little bit of chasing here and there but nothing too bad. They are only up to 1 that is a solid 6” and the other 3 are closer to 4”-5” I would say. All depends on individual fish I would think though.

id stack the whole tank top to bottom with taracotta pots with the bottoms busted out or seperate them into 20 gallon breeders. i had a pair of red devils and id grow the fry out to 5-7” in individual 20 gallons or a 30 gal tote. they are tough fish so id expect to see a really beat up stressed fish instead of a dead one overnight which means you should have time to seperate the ones getting bullied. id put a couple back up 10 gallons under your 75.

line of sight is all you can do theyll chase eachother but if you have enough of a cave system they should be able to get away or hide.

personally i wouldnt keep a heater in the tank.

this is also what I am thinking to overstock a smaller tank to reduce aggression. But i dont have any smaller tank yet. Anyway I think i would let nature take it course.

so the other 2 was been killed by them or there is any other cause of death?

you could buy plastic tote containers from a store and just run an airline off another tanks pump.

are you saying you want to seperate them into smaller tanks or that putting them all in a smaller tank will reduce aggression. i dont know what you mean by overstock.

Putting them in a smaller tank. Will it reduce aggression or not? I think the 75 is too big yet for them.
