How long do you think a crappie can live in a 40 gallon aquarium

What species, what dimensions of tank.
I’d say it is fine until about 6 inches or so.

Standard 40 and ether black or white which ever one is smaller as an adult

Probably until 6 inches. Then up to 90-125. Both are similar size.

I’m not good at natives, but smaller sunfish, livebearers, and minnows are all good.

First one that comes to mind is Pygmy sunfish and pumpkinseed (an abnormally large one would need more).
