Would it be possible to
Keep jaguar cichlid with mollies without the mollies emding up as their snack? I have some
Mollies in my stingray pond ,was thinking if i can add a jaguar cichlid into the pond.

Jack dempsey has a similar profile to a jag and is less likely to eat an adult molly.
I agree that any large cichlid, especially a piscivorous one like a jag, will eat mollies.

Well in the wild, duanes duanes did observed JDs successfully catch mollies in cenotes 1 out of 10 attempts, so when given the opportunity they will eat mollies

Do it. Float a 1/4 mile of guppy grass and Anacharis in there and enjoy the show. I ove waching cichlids hunt gambusia in the grass and watching them blow up in the weeds. I keep gambusia with my cichlids outside. Some vats run out some don’t. The Dempseys ran out and the Midas have apparently run out.

Above a 10" Rocio striking at small mollies in Cenote Cristalino.

But when you compare the omnivorous Rocio, to any piscavorus Parachromis, the difference is readily apparent, so you can tell in the confines of an aquarium or average pond, mollies don't stand much of chance.

Interesting. I never thought of Dempseys as able to take larger prey. I would have expected it to stick with guppies and other smaller fish. Thanks for the info!

The JDs I watched hunting live bearers only struck at fry and juvie mollies, never adults or even nearly grown adults. Some of the adult mollies were bulky, and up to 7 or 8 " long, so able to chase a 10" JD off.
On the other hand....I've seen adult 3 -4" mollies taken out by Parachromis.
