Channa auranti tankmates?

Okay, so I was planning to get a stewartii but I heard they were extremely aggresive, so I scrapped that and decided on a bleheris! But then I saw Channa aurantis. I thought they were expensive, so I ignored it until I heard its price, and it's actually quite cheap
I saw a thread in Mfk that aurantis are very aggresive with their own spices but are generally peaceful with tankmates except the ones which fit in their mouths. Can anyone confirm this and can I keep channas with other subtropical fishes?

My auranti allowed nothing in its tank alive until it reached 16"+, even plecos weren't allowed in its 90gallon tank.

I got it when it was 4-5" and it lived in that tank till it reached 18"+ after which I moved cities and had to give it away.

My first channa it was.

So should I scrap that idea or should I give it a try? My tank is 120g (120x60x60), and my stockings are



6 or 8 denison barbs



2 female blue acaras



A school of mascara barbs or more commonly known as "Dawkinsia assimili"



And yoyo loach (not sure about them), I heard they attack slow swimmers and shy fishes. I am putting them here because I think the aurantis can handle them.



Will overstocking solve the aggression?

Even denison barbs? I heard they reach 6 inches! But I guess aurantis can eat them. I guess I have to scrap aurantis and should just stick to bleheris if I want to get any tankmates :/

Why do you want tankmates? A pair will be just as beautiful imo.

Think about it. A 6 inch fish vs a 16-18inch predator with a huge mouth is not gonna end well. Not only that, but the denison barbs' slender body only makes them easier to swallow.

Why do you want tankmates? A pair will be just as beautiful imo.

It's really hard to pair them.

We can actually get confirmed pairs which have bred once, but there is no guarantee that they will tolerate each other.

Besides, confirmed pairs are really expensive.

You could just get a group of youngsters and wait for them to pair off.Alot of people have had success this way.
