Hybrid vieja?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Petco near me had a sale on fishtanks. A 75g was only $120. So I bought 2. Then I bought a rack from home depot. Then I was more excited than you when I was done. Although in this hobby are we ever done??20210417_130305.jpg

Bro you have a very nice black belt, I would personally say it's best to stick your 75 with the black belt rather than the flowerhorn.
Would it be possible to have only a Flowehorn and my blackbelt in the 75 and hope I can get a 90 and add nothing else

Thank you. I’ve been thinking about it but don’t know. He was one of my first fish too
i would keep the black belt in the 75 with some good catfish , and would keep the flowerhorn in the 40 breeder, cause its rare now that flowerhorns get to 12" as they used to get before, dont know about the US but here in INDIA flowerhorns tend to get stuck at that 7"- 9" mark .

nope not a very good idea, both get nasty at the 5-6 inch mark.
my argentea is just 2" and it has killed everything ive tried to keep it with.
My blackbelt goes after everyone. He chases my peacock bass, my bay snooks, my synspilum. I moved them to the pool and he still occasionally chases them around with like 600 gallons. Be careful what you put with him. When he hits around 6" he will start acting like a blackbelt.

I'm keeping it solo . I actually wanted it to be that way because in the past when i got a 4" argentea it was very shy and would not come out of its cave at any time and so i returned it to my friend who kept it in a community. after a few days the supplier at the lfs actually sent 5 pcs 0.5" argentea fry mislabelled as flowerhorn fry for dirt cheap, but as it was way cold here they arrived in pretty bad shape 1 dead an the other 4 had bad ich and white poop hanging on all 4. the guy at the lfs called me to see what they were as he was suspicious cause in my area the only large american cichlid you get is the oscar and FH. i told him what they were and they would not survive if kept in the condition lfs keeps fish , he told me to take all 4 and only pay for how many would actually survive , got them home put them in 15 gallon qt tank witha few small 1" platy as dithers , temp at 30c , salt and meth blue. lost 2 in 24 hrs , 2 were doing ok but after about 2 weeks the guy i have now ( the largest of them all ) killed the other , then went on killing 1 platy perd night , and after 6 days he was the sole member of the 15 gallon . he has been a roller coaster ride

Should I keep flowerhorn or blackbelt??? Black belt seems to be an eye catcher but the flowerhorn is still so young and has lots of potential

I'd put them in the tank and see how it goes for a while. They will be ok for a little while probably. When you start having problems divide the tank. Then pick one or find another tank.
