Regardless of what he is he is turning out stunning. Deadeyes right you can deffinately see alot of trimac in him.
His personality has been coming out a lot lately too. Today I was able to touch the top of his kok while he was eating. After he realized i was touching him he swam off but still for a small second I was able to do it. I’m making progress lol.

Takes time but eventually it will grow to like you. And bite you...

Is he yellow or is that just the video + tannins playing a trick?

If you’re talking about the yellow on his back half and fins then yes he has been getting a gold coloration on his back half.

Your on page 26 and this thread was started a little over a month ago! ??
I have my setting set to have the max replies on one page, I only have 7 pages lol. Most are the pages I bet are because of all of the stuff about my tank being to small or not lol and then after all that was situated several people messaged me about my flowerhorn and now this thread really just keeps me motivated to do the absolute best for him

I want a flowerhorn! Are there any other fish that could fit in a 55g that are as personable as a fh?
There is a type of flowerhorn that stays small enough for a 55 I think. One fish that I’ve owned in the past that was surprisingly personable that I think can fit in 55 for life is this guy. Don’t remember the name but it’s something like buscucatis mucosus F8692FE9-C989-44FD-99DF-FC51CED41282.jpeg

I’m pretty sure they’re actually pretty rare though. I bought mine at like 3” for 40$ and died at 5” due to popeye.
