hello, today I saw for sale a moray eel Gymnothorax tile snowskin large 40cm. I searched for information about them on the internet, but they are different. Sometimes I read that it can behave in fresh water, sometimes it can't. I wonder if it would be possible to have a moray eel in a freshwater aquarium? Or would it be possible to have it with cichlids?

Indian mud Morays are saltwater eels but often travel to freshwater when breeding but in aquarium settings thrive the best in brackish waters

g. tile has always done better in salted water with the ones I have had. I know a few local people who had theirs drop dead randomly after a year or so in pure fresh so I am fairly certain it isnt ideal for them.

I 100% agree that g. tile looks better than g. polyuranodon

Tile are better suited for brackish in aquarium setting

As others have said, only this one is true FW, the rest will slowly die without brackish water. They are $150-$250 and honestly, are not worth the headache! They will spend more time in your sump than your tank ? I don’t even bother searching for mine anymore, they are magicians and will appear/disappear whenever they please
