Species 107 on hook and line - Amphilophus alfari / "the pastel cichlid" / caught on a "squirm worm"



Species 108 on hook and line - Dajaus monticola / "the mountain mullet" / caught on a "Mepps aglia"

Holy grail species for me, glad to have caught one!

Welcome to the fishy family. That unknown tetra almost looks like a Buenos Aires tetra.

Looks like a kingfisher but don’t know what type of toad. I only really know of cane toads but this guy looks a bit to bumpy.

The kingfisher is Chloroceryle americana (family Alcedinidae) , aptly named 'the green kingfisher'.
The toad could be one of no more than two similar species, but most likely it is Rhinella marina (family Bufonidae), referred to as cane toad.

Very nice pictures of fishies and others. I am sure you had a great time. I love Costa Rica and might be going again in August, although for work. Thanks for sharing!

The pacific side of the country, a small town called “posso azul”. The river I fished in was called the “rio lagarto”.
