Welcome to the fishy family. That unknown tetra almost looks like a Buenos Aires tetra.
 
The kingfisher is Chloroceryle americana (family Alcedinidae) , aptly named 'the green kingfisher'.
The toad could be one of no more than two similar species, but most likely it is Rhinella marina (family Bufonidae), referred to as cane toad.

Very nice pictures of fishies and others. I am sure you had a great time. I love Costa Rica and might be going again in August, although for work. Thanks for sharing!

The pacific side of the country, a small town called “posso azul”. The river I fished in was called the “rio lagarto”.
Do you mean ''Pozo Azul''? In Guanacaste province?
