I generally have fish that tend to like the veg side of the food spectrum. Feeding them high protein diet is getting them constipated from time to time. We don't get nls here or I'd be using algaemax not do we get plain nori that I could feed the fish.
I generally feed them blanched peas carrots cucumber and spinach from time to time but all these are not available at all seasons.
So are certain trees whose leaves may be fed to the fish, like maybe banana tree leaves or leaves from some flowering plants.
Also can they eat potato? Maybe sprouts? Coriander? Boiled pulses?
I do also feed banana, apples, pear , papaya sometimes. They readily accept them all.
And can I maybe get some pellets soaked in water and coat them with spirullina powder made for human consumption?
Thanks.
Please do leave suggestions as to what fresh veggies do you feed your veggie monsters.
Fish I'm talking about are
vieja argentea,
vieja melanura x zonata
Tinfoil barbs
Rainbow sharks
Bala sharks
Tilapia Buttikoferi ( don't have it yet but asking for the future)

Not sure about any of it but I do know that apples can put sugars into the water and cloud water so I’d avoid using that but everything else seems fine.

Everything you mentioned is probably fine, but I wouldn’t feed those too frequently.
Aquatic plant life is probably the best bet, as the fish are built for that. I feed my severum anubias, aponogeton, duckweed, and Val whenever I accidentally break off a leaf when cleaning my planted tank (and the duckweed just grows out of control).
You could also get the nori sheets meant for tangs.

I'm very sure apples don't harm as much as they are thought to. I've fed them apples multiple times. It's very simple too much of anything is going to cloud up the water. Apples or for that matter high sugar foods will cause harm uf fed as a staple diet. As appetizers they seem to do fine. ?

That's the main problem we don't get plain nori sheets here , all we get is pre roasted or salted.
I don't have planted tanks plus I'm not very confident of feeding plant matter directly brought off the lfs directly.
Hey duanes duanes , very interested to know your opinion.
Like can they be fed flowers that are edible to humans? Should I give it a try? My tinfoil barbs have eaten money plant leaves many times.

Do you have grocery stores that sell dried seaweed aka Nori? You can use human grade spirulina powder coated food. I used to do that for my carnivorous type fish.

These 3 varieties I use all the time with all my fish. They love it!
This is of course not a staple, but a treat and they relish it! Of course they receive a variety of other foods (pellets, flakes, frozen), on rotations, 4 days per week.
All 3 types are roasted, not salted, not oiled. Very inexpensive in Asian stores, about U$ 2.50 per pack of 10 large sheets (lasts weeks), or about $3 for a package of the last kind, which does not come in sheets.
Cheers!
