Hello; Part of the plane to push EV's is my guess. Make the operation of an ICE much more expensive artificially so the EV can compete. Throw in some incentives for the EV and add penalties to the ICE on top.

Our governor is considering imposing a tax on all drivers in the state to the tune of 8.1 cents per mile driven.So,we've already paid the sales tax on the fuel we've purchased and now they want to tax us for using the fuel.

A gallon of petrol in the UK costs about £5.96, it's about £1.32 per litre (4.5 litres per gallon).

So, given the exchange rate you'd be paying about $8.25 for a gallon of our petrol.

Hello; Is this on ICE and EV both. I have been reading about charging EV's in some way because they avoid the fuel tax at the pumps.

Our state has just put a per km driven tax onEVs and there is also a huge sales tax when you buy one so it’s not really an incentive to buy one at the moment.
A friend has a Tesla, you aren’t allowed to use all the self driving features due to our local laws but it’s pretty freaking when sitting in it and it’s doing a lot of the driving itself. It will take some adjustment to your usual driving mentality to feel comfortable in one.
