What is this on my plant

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
There’s not maybe 7 plantets on my plant. 3 gave started growing leaves and the roots are getting pretty big and growing fast. What should I do with them? Should I remove them and plant them or leave them be?

Up to you. Some I leave, some I replant. I like to let them get a god size before pulling, easier to tie them to driftwood or rocks that way.

I’m scared of removing them because I feel like I’ll tear the root system and mess it up. I have a extremely shakey hands btw lol. The roots are getting pretty big and leaves are growing pretty fast too. Is there anything I could get to help them grow faster? I haven’t used liquid fertilizer in a week or two and would co2 work?

Not much you need to do. Javas are a slow grower, I don’t use liquid ferts or co2 so I can’t comment there.
They actually pop off surprisingly easily, just grab it by the rhizome (the thick green stem between the roots and leaves) and give a light tug like picking an apple. It should come right off, you can always grow the babies out in your shrimp tank.

You can leave them until they have leaves and then just pluck them off. Trim the brown stringy roots down to about 1in. Use gel super glue from the dollar store, acrylic yarn or fishing line to secure them to rock or wood.

My shrimp tank doesn’t get much light, is that okay? I don’t see a thick stem but also don’t know what to look for. Can I get a bowl of the tanks water and put all of them on the bowl that are already free floating? How long can they be out of water for?

Also there’s this thing, I have no clue where it came from or what it is View attachment 1470238
Not sure what that is, looks like some decaying plant matter, best to remove.

They can be out of water for a bit, and don’t need too much light.
Rhizome looks like this:

Ok so I have a bunch of Java moss growing on the bottom of driftwood which is what I thought were detached plantlets so there was only only down there and I think I know what the rhizome is, here’s the only one I got so far. I also got a chance to say hi to snowball ( spotted Raphael cat) now to collect the ones off the leaves do they have to be a certain size until I can pick them? Also I found another plant let on the wood that was already attached and growing so I left it, it has 3 leaves and growing amazingly also how gentle should I be when picking them off the leaf image.jpg
