What strains of flowerhorn have it and if the pearl gene is dominant or incomplete dominant ? Worm like pearls are normal pearls with a modifying gene?

If your looking for a strain with nice pearling I would recommend either getting a Kamfa or a Kamfamalau. Both strains get high amounts of pearling, mostly due to having a higher concentration of Veija gene's, only major differences between them is body type, fin type and pearl color. Kamfa's end up with a rather large boxy body with very short and squared off fins as well as having more blue/white pearling, while Kamfamalau's tend to end up with a bit more of a tapered body style and longer/ more sharply pointed fins and more of a deep green - electric blue pearling. As for which one has more worm pearls, I would probably say the Kamfa does just since it's been around in the hobby a bit longer then the Kamfamalau has. Also Kamfa's tend to have white eyes, Veija trait, while Kamfamalau's tend to have red eyes, Trimac trait, but there are exceptions in each strain.

As for whether or not worm pearls have a modifying gene to make them as such, I have no clue. If I had to guess I would say no and that it's just multiple pearls just bunched up together making worm like lines. Of-course on the other hand it could be just a less dominant version of the gene that causes a ZZ Red Dragon to become a Thai Silk. Hopefully someone else with a bit more knowledge can step in and answer that one.
