Have you tested your water?
No
If I did not test my water...
  1. ...I recognize that I will likely be asked to do a test, and that water tests are critical for solving freshwater health problems.
Do you do water changes?
Yes
What percentage of water do you change?
61-70%
If I do not change my water...
  1. ...I recognize that I will likely be recommended to do a water change, and water changes are critical for preventing future freshwater health problems.
So, recently my fish has been acting strange. He always hangs around at the top of the tank and seems to be unable to hold his breath. Everytime he takes a breath of air ,he kinda 'coughs' it out and the cycle continues.

I then added some aqaurium salt and fungus n parasite treatment to the tank but nothing has changed. He is also not eating anything. I have been doing water changes once every 2 days.

Tank size, test water, filtration and add an aerator

Channa don't like alot of water movement. They prefer calm water.
Water movement is gonna add more oxygen which will stop him from gasping at the surface. Sounds like nitrates are high. So would suggest and airstone or something to get some better oxygenated water and do some smaller frequent water changes with less feeding

Definitely test your water parameters. The fungus medicine probably killed your beneficial bacteria. I suggest don't add anymore medicine until someone can give a definite answer on what is wrong with the Channa.

They prefer calm waters, such as where they are found in the wild near dense calm vegetation. They breathe atmospheric air so it doesn’t matter that much.
