Fish Stocking for a 1,000 Gallon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Would you recommend any alternative for the cichlids? I fear they might harass the clown knife or the oscars.
what would look cool (for my tastes at least) is leaving out the Jags, and going with a large school of silver dollars. I had a school of 15 once, and in large numbers, when they all shimmer and school together back and forth across the tank can look really pretty. At feeding time was the best with those guys haha. However it might make it difficult to feed the clown knives. The SDs take everything, quickly.

Oh no I meant in respect to the comment by mattybecks that silver dollars could added as a decorative element. I don’t intend to use tetras as feeders

duanes duanes Right, I’ve decided to replace the jaguars with a pair of golden severums

I am planning on upgrading to a 1,000 gallon freshwater setup (My largest currently is a 500). After all is said and done, I was wondering whether this stocking would thrive in the tank :
- 1 Asian Silver Arowana
- 1 Golden Clown Knife
- 2 Oscars
- 2 Jaguar Cichlids
- 1 Royal Pleco
Would the tankmates get along fairly well? And is the tank overcrowded, or could I add another fish if needed?
4 cichlids not a good idea . I'd get a female jag and maybe 1 or no Oscar . If not get a female jag and maybe a pike cichlid . Getting a Pike may be problem if you are from india , which I'm guessing by your name . If not a pike then maybe a kelberi bass .

..puSkar.. ..puSkar.. 2 severums and 2 oscars would serve, no? Its a 1000 gallon tank that’s 10 ft. long and 5 ft deep, with only 7 fish counting the severums and oscars. (I decided to switch the jaguars out for the severums because the jags have a little aggressive tendencies, even more so than oscars)
