First impressions of my juvenile Payaras

very cool but wont you need like 500 gallons for them when they are adults?

Hey,
For armatus you'd want at least an 8ft by 4ft tank.
But those are scomberoides which rarely grows past 12in.

I've been thinking about getting a 500G system for payara, but not sure yet. Really cool fish. Always wanted some.

Hey,
sadly both specimen passed away because of a mistake I made.
When I left home for a weekend in Cologne I did not put the tank's lights on a timer so the tank was dark for the time I was not home.
When I came back both specimen had a broken spine and their lifeless bodies were laying on the sand.
I strongly suspect that both payara got spooked when the Apteronotus albifrons stayed active due to the lack of light making this nocturnal species swim all around the tank.
