Can u pls tell me what has happened to himUnfortunately sounds like it might be to far gone, if it has a sunken belly that is hard to come back from. What are your water parameters
Rest in peace my boyThat type of plec will happily dine on blanched cabbage, mussel meat, tilapia fillet, algae wafers, etc. So may be suffering from malnutrition. Easiest way to tell is if the underside seems to not be flat and is in any way sunken. Try offering a piece of fish and see if there is any response.

Thank u very much my broI’m sorry I’m late to this thread….rip pleco baby
just so you are aware this pleco was starving for quite some time, I could see the concave of the belly in the very first picture you posted. In the post death picture you posted you can clearly see the eyes were heavily sunken in.
I know you said it was eating cucumber readily, as others have stated cucumbers are not very nutritious, however, I do believe it would have been enough to keep him alive with weight on him as he would have been eating left over fish food as well. I suspect this pleco came into your home with a potential infestation of internal worms.
unfortunately common plecos are not well fed when they come into the store for sale and most die in stores before making it to new homes, usually dying of starvation.
the best course of action for this pleco would have been a round of de wormer and good hearty foods to put weight on. People don’t seem to realize bigger fish need more food than smaller fish. Algae wafers, shrimp pellets, cichlid pellets, and fresh veggies make a great diet for common plecos.
it could be worth your time to do some research on plecos and find another one you might like that stays smaller than the common pleco. You can do some minor research and find out which pleco best suits your tank…if you feed high protein foods, high algae Foods, or if you can or want to add fresh veggies. No pleco is going to help clean a tank of algae and it’s a fools mission to get a pleco and not feed it specifically bc the owner wants them to “keep their tank algae free”.
