I still have a lot of leftover omega one cichlid pellets from when I was keeping American cichlids and I was wondering if it would be safe for me to use with my mbunas as long as I make it into a blend with say a lot of peas and maybe nls in order to bring the protein ratio down?

I'd like for it to not go to waste but I also don't want to risk my mbuna and getting bloat.

Even as it, id be only using it as a treat and not staple.

I'm currently feeding NLS, northfin veggie and algae wafers. Every one is doing great and have even started to breed for me!

Let me know your thoughts

What is the expiration date of the food?

Protein doesn't cause bloat, and not all mbuna are considered herbivores.

I would just go ahead and use it up, just mix in with your other food gradually so as not to cause any sudden extreme changes to your fishes current diet.
I appreciate the link, that is a great read ?
I might just start feeding it sparingly as you suggested to not make it a drastic change.

Pellets expire in 2023 but I also keep them in a freezer to keep them as fresh as possible.
