What should I do with an empty 55gal?

Probably not the best to mix an eel with puffers…would look good but not worth the risk…
May I add successfully (sort of a big detail to leave out lol)
I don’t see that as in issue I kept T. Schoudenti with M. Elipsifer for about 5 years- also grew out a fire eel in the same tank during that time
I meant morays specifically.
That’s fair, size and how well the eel is fed is probably a big factor. It’s doable, I’m just paranoid lol.
I’m pretty sure puffers are bad tasting due to neurotoxins in their skin.

Yep. Most fish do not try to eat puffers, and most who do die trying
whwre do you live- what’s the climate like? I love the temperate cichlids from Uruguay / Argentina so I definitely throw that hat in the ring
I would want a pair or breeding group of cichlids with dithers/ in the 55 since you already have a community and big centerpiece singles in your collection. That way each tank has a different dynamic and set of behaviors you get to observe and enjoy.
Yep…that’s my concern. Cause then you lose both (in a worst case scenario).
