I have been researching Fish that are native to North America and have stumbled upon some interesting species that grow quite large. Here are the top three that I find most interesting

1. The Colorado pike minnow

The Colorado pike minnow is a under appreciated sportfish that were killed in large numbers by people who feared they would consume the native trout and salmon. There have been reports of pike minnows that were over 6 feet long!

2. Inconnu

The inconnu is a large predatory fish that is in the white fish family. It is native to northern Canada and Alaska. It is a sportfish that is mainly fished for using fly fishing gear. They have been know you grow in excess of 50”

3. Burbot

Burbot are the only know freshwater cod. They are overlooked as a sportfish in the northern states and Canada. They are starting to become populate with ice anglers as they spawn shallow under the ice which makes it easy for ice anglers to target them. They have been know to grow over 36” and 15 pounds. This is a speices I have know about for awhile as they are abundant where I live.

Yep it prefers the deepest darkest parts of lakes and only goes shallow during the winter when water temps drop
I'm now wondering which members are keeping them and how they go about providing their needs.
