My red juvenile Arowana is just sitting in a corner

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Beautiful tank, are you gonna add the arowana with the flowerhorn? That wouldn’t be a good idea haha.

thinking of adding any bottom dwelling fish like rays or bichirs? I’ve read or heard somewhere, if an arowana is kept solitary from young without any tankmates, it would become more territorial and aggressive if you ever do decide to add tankmates later on.

Beautiful as it is, that is a surprising choice of fish for a new fishkeeper.
Had Aros when I was younger, my dad was a huge fan of them. So got it so he can give my dad some company and I wanted to get into it as well. I never worked with sumps before that’s where I’m a noob. But with canisters and OHF I know what to do.

I’m planning to keep him alone but if he gets bored then I’ll add some tank mates. No the flower horn and aro have swapped tanks for the time being. As the aro was stressed and maybe suffering from new tank syndrome. The flower horn is hardy and has no issues the new tank. As it has been with me for 5 months, it’s a SRD

NICE! I read all the posts and noticed you said the NITRITES are at 1... which means (as we concluded) that the tank is not cycled. Getting cycled media from your friend was the right call. It should be able to speed up the cycling process (depending on how much he gave you). Keep doing tests everyday until the nitrites and ammonia are 0 and you start to read Nitrates. Beautiful tank by the way :asianarow

Thank you!! and noted. He gave me 2 zip bags of ceramic and bio balls I have kept one each in 2 different compartments. Adding Seachem Stability for the next 4 days according to tank requirements and will let it stabalize before I add him to this tank. On a side note the flowerhorn is enjoying it a hella lot, he has made his territory and loves his staycation home ?
